From an early age Sioned Terry experienced success on both the national and international (Llangollen) platforms of the Eisteddfod in Wales and has since forged a career that has seen her perform for audiences ranging form politicians to royalty and at venues ranging from the corporate scene to cathedrals, concert halls to theatres, to sporting venues and festival stages.
Most recently Sioned performed to a crowd of thousands at Eirias Park stadium as part of the pre-Olympic celebrations, entertaining the audience alongside popular and much loved acts such as ‘Only Boys Aloud’.
Often invited to perform with many of Wales’ reputable male voice choirs and musicians, Sioned recently took to the prestigious stage of the ‘Gwyl Gobaith’ music festival, sharing the platform with world renowned artist Hayley Westenra and classical music sensation, ‘Amore’.
Sioned is no stranger to opening world-class sporting events either. Last year, she was honoured to perform the national anthem at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Ultra Running Championships, as well as recently providing a musical opening to an international athletics event in Cardiff.
A classically trained Mezzo-Soprano, her voice often described as ‘beautifully captivating’ by many of her listeners, posesses a pure and clear tone, but is equally endowed with an appealing warmth, resulting in a smooth and rich timbre. The evokative nature of her delicate, yet powerful singing successfully connects with the listener and judging by the often overwhelming response of her audiences, Sioned is successful in communicating her love of melody and song to those who listen.
Sioned’s repertoire and style of performance establishes itself in the popular realm of the contemporary ‘crossover’ genre and her performances have captured the attention of listeners across the age ranges. Her most popular and requested repertoire extends from well-known arias to songs from stage & screen, from oratorio and lieder to traditional Welsh classics – performed of course in Sioned’s native Welsh tongue.
Sioned has a busy schedule running up to Christmas 2012, which will include, amongst others, her annual concert, ‘A Christmas Serenade’, now in its fourth year, growing and establishing itself as a popular Christmas celebration for music lovers of all ages.
